Designer Eileen Kathryn Boyd got creative with this table setting by using bold interior fabrics for the place mat and napkins, which is a makes for major wow-factor in a neutral dining room. It’s a good way to experiment with interesting color and pattern combinations like vivid floral and animal prints. We also find Boyd’s use of cuff bracelets instead of napkin rings to be genius.

If your guest room needs a pick-me-up, drape a pretty fabric above the bed, like this space in Gwyneth Paltrow’s home. Extra seating can be both fashionable and functional–upholster small padded stools that are small enough to slide right underneath your coffee table. That way the seats don’t take up too much space when they’re not being used. Go for a variety of prints that fit with the color scheme of your decor.
